January 2015

Happy New Year!

Hope you all have had enjoyed a happy and health new year. How can it be the end of Jan. already? I must say, this does excite me a bit because it means that 2015 LBPC events will be in full swing. Coming up we have our Valentine's Day craft (Feb. 7th), Chinese New Year Celebration (date TBD), and Patriots Day Parade (March 7th). This year's Patriots Day Parade we're really getting into the spirit. The parade's theme is "Home of the Free because of the Brave," so dress your little ones as brave superheros (and yourself too if you are so inclined). It is going to be a hoot!

Updates on Bluebird Park requested improvements
We're happy to report that we continue to receive forward momentum from the City and the Recreation Committee on our requests for improvements at Bluebird Park. Our signage on the fence reminding patrons to close the gates is up! The City Manager is also moving forward requesting that a shade structure in the tots area and fencing where the park abuts Bluebird Canyon Road are factored into the town's budget. These last two pieces of the puzzle are still very much in their infancy but nonetheless have momentum.

Check out some of our volunteer opportunities:
  • Calendar Coordinator
  • Newsletter Coordinator
We have a new volunteer for our 2014 Playgroup Coordinator - Tiffany Waugh - and also for our Charity Coordinator - Michelle Cornell.  A huge thank you goes out to these ladies. Both roles tie this club to our community and make it a better place to raise our children.

Exciting things are going on at the LBPC and we're so happy you're a part of it.

Patriots Day Parade
When: Sat Mar 7, 2015, 10 am – noon
Where: Park Avenue
Description:
The 2015 Patriots Day Parade is Saturday, March 7th.
The Laguna Beach Parents Club has a spot and we will be doing something special this year! Come walk with us and represent the LB Parents Club and all the great stuff we do, in true Laguna style (kicked back and fun!)
The theme of the parade is: “Home of the Free Because of the Brave!”
So we encourage you and your little one(s) to dress in their favorite superhero costume…with a patriotic twist. Go big or keep it simple. Don’t have a costume, make one. Don’t want to make one, wear red, white, and blue.
If you have a family member that serves, or served the county, you could pay homage to them. Invite them to walk with us! Bring their picture, wear their uniform, or make a sign thanking them.
More details are to come. Don’t miss out on participating in this Laguna tradition!

Don't Forget:

Meals for New Parents
We offer a free meal prepared by a local restaurant to any LBPC family bringing home a new baby. The family can choose from several menu options. The Club takes care of ordering the food, picking it up and delivering it to the families doorstep. Yum Yum!

Birth Announcements

Have a new baby and want to share your excitement with the club.  Email jenniferleonti@gmail.com to have the announcement appear in our next newsletter.

We need your help!

Our parents club is 100% run by volunteers. It takes a lot of people to pull off our events, manage the calendar, monitor the website and keep everyone happy! Please join us at our monthly meetings to help keep with wonderful community organization thriving.

We VERY MUCH need help with the following:
  • Calendar Coordinator - We are looking to fill the position of calendar coordinator.  This person will help keep the club members in "the know" about events going on in our community by posting their findings on our bigtent calendar.
  • Newsletter Coordinator- Looking to flex your writing skills instead of your coloring skills? Here's your opportunity.
Thank you to those folks who have recently stepped up to continue to make this club go 'round.
