Welcome to the LBPC
The Laguna Beach Parents Club (LBPC) is a volunteer-run, non-profit community organization. Our membership includes all types of families – parents ranging from their twenties to their fifties; families with one child or five; stay-at-home dads, working moms and parents who share life duties in a multitude of ways; all types of parenting styles, religious beliefs, political leanings and personal aspirations. Most have at least one child under the age of five, but our resources and programs can appeal to families with older children and they are most welcome.

What we all have in common, however, is an awareness that parenting is tough (though incredibly rewarding) and that it is much more fun (and easier) when done within a supportive community like the LBPC.
We were founded in September 2005 by Christa Henry, Kris Thornton and a Steering Committee of visionaries*. Our founders were former members of the Laguna Beach Moms Club. The Moms Club was a chapter of a national organization designed to provide stay-at-home mothers a sense of community that otherwise would be lacking. But, many of Laguna's eclectic and alternative mix of family units were unable to enjoy the advantages of an organization such as the Moms Club. Club founders wanted to offer a more inclusive group open to all families, including same-gender couples, single-parent families, expectant parents, foster parents or other care takers responsible for children — anyone who found themselves in a parenting role would be welcome.
Our founders created the LBPC from scratch. They worked with an attorney to craft the bylaws, establish our corporation and develop a custom website. A tremendous amount of work went in to getting the LBPC up and running. Every year since then, a dedicated Steering Committee has passed the reigns to another group of volunteer parents. Our Club is "run" by our family members who dedicate their time so that the LBPC can succeed.
The Laguna Beach Parents Club offers a family community network crafted to reflect Laguna’s diverse population. We offer a myriad of parenting support programs including:
- Weekly playgroups organized by age
- Regular Club-wide social events and outings
- Laguna Beach community events calendaring and access
- Holiday and seasonal celebrations
- Regular kids crafting events
The Club started in November of 2005 with around 50 family members. Just four years later, the Club was thriving with 230 active families. Today, we continue to grow with around 270 families.
