In March, we filled Alta Laguna Park with Parents Club members for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. Parents enjoyed a keg, taco carts and live music while the kids played together and raced for eggs.
A couple of weeks earlier, moms gathered at Dizz's As Is in South Laguna for a pre-St. Patty's Day Mom's Night Out dinner.
And now it's the dads' turn for a night out on the town. This Thursday, April 18, the men will start at the Laguna Beach Batting Cages at 6:00, where the club will sponsor a private cage for an hour. After showing off their impressive batting skills, the dads will head over to ReMark’s for dinner from 7:00 to 9:00. Save the date: Mother’s Day is already less than a month away. This year, we’re giving the dads a little help with a Mother’s Day weekend craft and picnic on May 11 from 11:00 to 1:00. Assistants will be on hand to help the dads make something special for mom. (We wouldn’t make the men operate a glue gun all by themselves.) Feel free to bring a picnic that the whole family can enjoy at the park afterward. We’ll be posting additional details, including the location, on Big Tent soon.

Need something to read while you get a Mother's Day pedicure? The next Book Club meeting is Monday, May 13 from 7:30 to 9:30 at The Deck at the Pacific Edge Hotel. We’ll be discussing The House at Riverton by Kate Morton. If you’re a fan of Downton Abbey, give this book about an aristocratic family and a mysterious death in 1920s England a try. Don’t forget that we deliver a meal to families with new babies through our Families Helping Families program. If you are expecting a little one, contact Maile at ohmaile@yahoo.com. Don’t be shy. We have a great list of local restaurants to pick from and are happy to do what we can to help new parents.
Around town ... Saturday, April 20 is Imagination Celebration at the Laguna Art Museum from 11:00 to 2:00. Admission is free for kids and adults. There will be art projects throughout the museum, face painting, balloons, story time and music. You also can check out the current exhibits. More information is available here: http://lagunaartmuseum.org/imagination-celebration/
We hope to see you at an event soon.
