Take advantage of the longer days of summer and join the Parent's Club for some family time at Bluebird Park. Family Fridays are a great way to hang out with the awesome club families AND ensure your young ones are worn out and ready for a good night's sleep. We plan to organize one family Friday night each month for May, June, July, August and September. We will shoot for the first Friday of the month unless it conflicts with a holiday weekend.

The first Family Friday will be May 2 from 4:30- until the party ends. This is a non-hosted event, meaning that families should bring their own food, beverages and maybe a picnic blanket as your base. The park and friends will provide all of the entertainment.

Most of the activity will be happening near the tot area or the older kid play structures. Plan to set up camp in one of these areas.

Please RSVP on BigTent so we can get an idea of how many and whom to watch for. We look forward to seeing you to celebrate the end of the week AND the longer days of summer.

Speaker Series talk: How young children impact our marriages

On Wednesday, May 21st, LBPC hosted a talk by Quentin Hafner, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at the Susi Q Center Community Room

Our speaker, Quentin Hafner, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist addressed the hidden reasons why being married can be so difficult with young children. Everyone seems to know that being happily married can be a challenge when young children are present, but few people seem to know why, or better yet, what they can do to change this. In this talk, Quentin talked to parents of young children about the underlying reasons for marital dissatisfaction, and offer practical solutions to create a marriage that thrives.

You can find his "5 Tips for a Thriving Marriage with Young Children" at:
http://www.bigtent.com/group/folder

Quentin is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in private practice in Costa Mesa where he specializes in couples therapy. In particular, Quentin loves working with couples who are expecting a new baby, or couples who have young children. Quentin lives in Irvine with his wife Hillery, and their son Levi. For more information about Quentin, please visit:www.QuentinHafner.com

We need your help!
Our parents club is 100% run by volunteers. It takes a lot of people to pull off our events, manage the calendar, monitor the website and keep everyone happy! Please join us at our monthly meetings to help keep with wonderful community organization thriving.

We VERY MUCH need help with the following:
  • Sponsorship Coordinator - This is a fun volunteer position that gives you the opportunity to meet local business owners who support our club. Duties include gathering and posting monthly "shout-outs" as well as gathering information from new sponsors, support for sponsorship sponsorship renewal.
  • 2013  Playgroup Coordinator - If you have a 2013 kiddo and would like to coordinate please contact crcaligurl@gmail.com. This is a great way to meet other moms and give back to this wonderful network.
  • Calendar Coordinator - We are looking to fill the position of calendar coordinator.  This person will help keep the club members in "the know" about events going on in our community by posting their findings on our bigtent calendar. Huge thanks to the newly prego mama that has been carrying this torch!
  • Newsletter Coordinator- Looking to flex your writing skills instead of your coloring skills? Here's your opportunity.
  • Families Helping Families Coordinator- We offer a free meal prepared by a local restaurant to any LBPC family bringing home a new baby. The family can choose from several menu options. The Club takes care of ordering the food, picking it up and delivering it to the families doorstep.  We need someone to coordinator these efforts as our current coordinator is expecting and will need a meal delivery herself:)
Thank you to those folks who have recently stepped up to continue to make this club go 'round.

Don't Forget:

Meals for New Parents
